Hancock Senior Leadership Application

Hancock Senior Leadership Brochure

The Hancock Senior Leadership Program is now accepting applications for its 2010 class. The nine-week Senior Leadership Program, now in its second year, is designed for retirees and semi-retirees in the community. This community awareness program is cosponsored by the Hancock County Agency on Aging and the Chamber of Commerce.

Retirees offer a wealth of experience, leadership and vitality to their communities while enriching their own lives. Senior Leadership Programs provide seniors with knowledge of community needs, new friendships and volunteer opportunities.

The main objectives of Hancock Senior Leadership are:
  • To develop and empower mature adults to assume new leadership roles which contribute to the well being of the community
  • To acquaint participants with the area's assets, challenges and opportunities
  • To provide a forum to broaden mature adult citizens' knowledge of the community through presentations, interactive discussions and tours in a series of nine, 6-hour sessions.
  • To provide an opportunity to meet new friends who share the same intellectual curiosity and commitment to our community
Senior Leadership classes begin Tuesday, September 14 and end Tuesday, November 9. Each class day will be on a Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The topics include: Orientation and History of Hancock County, Energizing the Area Economy, New Challenges & Directions in Public Education, Diversity & Faith-based Issues, Justice and Safety, Arts and Recreation, Local Government and Health Care. Fees for the nine week session are $200/person or $300/per couple (spouse, friend, co-worker).
