
Government Leadership Academy
The Findlay• Hancock County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that applications are now available for the program made possible by a grant from the Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation. In cooperation with the Ohio State University Extension Community Development Program, we are offering the Government Leadership Academy. The academy is intended for people serving in elected or appointed positions, for those seeking elected office, and people who serve on government committees, boards, or task-forces.
The Government Leadership Academy is a ten week course to be held at the Family Center on Mondays from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. beginning January 23, 2012. The purpose of this program is to encourage, support and promote good government through a curriculum geared toward leadership and decision making skills as it relates to interaction in the public sector.
The curriculum developed The Ohio State University includes:
- Public Service/Conducting Effective Meetings
- Leadership Skills & Styles/Effective Decision Making
- Building Sustainable Communities
- Team Building
- Intergovernmental Relations & Economic Development
- Ins and Outs, Ups and Downs of Running for Public Office
- Communicating & Working with Citizens
- Conflict Management & Dispute Resolution
- Communicating & Working with the Media
- Ethics in Local Government
Class size is limited to 25 participants; tuition for the 10 week course is $250, which includes a meal provided by The Bistro. Applications are available at the Chamber office. For more information, please contact Ann Moore at
