Nissin Brake Ohio Announces $60 Million Investment & Expansion Plans

(Findlay, Ohio, May 17, 2010) – Nissin Brake Ohio, Inc. (NBO) announced today that it will be making significant equipment and building investments within the next few years at their Findlay, Ohio facility. Nearly $60 million capital investment in the next four years is planned, including more than $25 million within the current fiscal year (ending March 31, 2011). Most of the investment is machining and assembly equipment for making automotive modulator component parts and finished Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) modulators. More than half of this year’s investments will be housed in the Tall Timbers Distribution Center, an adjacent warehouse where 50,000 square feet will be modified for manufacturing use. Nissin already leases 100,000 square feet of additional warehouse space at the distribution center.

The following year, investment plans will be $11 million for additional manufacturing equipment. Then future plans include more than $7 million for the purchase of the 320,000 square foot Tall Timbers Distribution Center warehouse sitting on more than 20 acres adjacent to NBO. The warehouse acquisition allows Nissin ample space for future expansion and gives Nissin more flexibility to expand localization activity (increase in-house production) as their 225,000 square foot base facility at 1901 Industrial Drive is virtually full.

The investments will create more than 35 new jobs and raise employment numbers at the Findlay plant to over 700. Thirty (30) more associates are doing R&D activity at the company’s East Liberty, Ohio office. Nissin Brake is actively working on these projects in coordination with the Ohio Department of Development and local economic development offices. Collectively, various economic incentives are being offered to NBO including the Ohio Enterprise Bond Fund, the 166 Direct Loan, the Ohio Job Creation Tax Credit and the Rapid Outreach Grant. The equipment investments are for making various finished assemblies such as master cylinder/boosters, brake assemblies and VSA modulator units. Additionally, the acquired space will enable NBO to do more in-house component production for the VSA modulator.

DOW RECEIVES APPROVAL OF FINAL STATE INCENTIVE, APPROVES FINDLAY EXPANSION

(FINDLAY, OH, February 3, 2010) – Findlay Mayor Pete Sehnert and GreaterFindlayInc. are pleased to announce that The Dow Chemical Company has gained final state approval for financial incentives in support of its plans to expand the product lines at its Findlay plant.

Dow obtained approval from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority on January 25 to receive a final incentive for its proposed product line expansion into the manufacture of films used in the production of solar modules. The Job Creation Tax Credit will be awarded to the company for the creation of new positions they will add as a result of the new initiative and the 63 jobs that they are retaining. The value of the tax credit is estimated at $106,163 over its seven-year term -- if a total of 20 jobs are created over the next four years -- and the company will be required to maintain operations at the project site for 10 years to maintain the credits. Dow has already been approved for approximately $300,000 in other state grants to assist with the launch of its new line.

Dow’s Findlay manufacturing site leader Brian Brown is excited about the new project and the positive impact it will have on the community. “I thank GreaterFindlayInc. for providing valuable assistance in better understanding the various financial assistance programs and supporting us in the successful application and qualification process. I also thank Mayor Sehnert for joining us in Columbus to support our project during our incentive application review with the Ohio Tax Credit Authority.”

Findlay Mayor Pete Sehnert added, “We are delighted to be able to share this good news for our city. It is great to see results from the work of our Economic Development partners.”

The new films that Dow will produce will be used in solar modules installed on rooftops of commercial and residential buildings and used by utility companies in North America and Europe. The line is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Ray De Winkle, President and CEO of GreaterFindlayInc., stated, “This expansion has been a long time coming. GreaterFindlayInc. met with and pledged its assistance to the Dow team in December 2008; and we’ve been working with them to find the right project. We’re very pleased that they’ve discovered such a great fit. This solar initiative will be a valuable addition to our local economy and adds diversity to our region’s economic base.”

KRAMER ENTERPRISES, INC. EXPAND FINDLAY HEADQUARTERS

Kramer Enterprises, Inc. and the Kramer family brands d.b.a. City Dry Cleaning, City Uniforms and Linen, City and Schafer Dry Cleaning has been based out of Findlay, OH. since 1944.

In 1994, the Kramer family purchased a five acre lot in the Westfield Business Park located west of I-75 to erect a new state-of-the art 27,000 sq./ft. production facility for City Uniforms & Linen and City Apparel. City’s Findlay headquarters is the home to all of its industrial production. It’s dry cleaning store and administrative offices are in downtown facility.

In August 2008, construction was completed on the 25,500 sq. /ft. energy efficient facility, valued at $1.5 million. The expansion is the new corporate headquarters for Kramer which includes modern office space, warehouse/distribution area for City Apparel, state-of-the art media center and additional floor space for production.

Paul Kramer (President/CEO) stated, “The expansion was a necessary part of our growth and succession plan by bringing the entire team back together again after 15 years.”

The new facility boasts many green friendly attributes including energy saving heating/cooling systems, an on-site water recycle treatment plant, ECOLOGIC lighting throughout, electric power conservation through a demand response program and a cultural commitment to recycling aluminum, plastic, and paper refuse. The additional space also allowed for reengineering of the production flow and washroom updates.

“The expansion allowed us the opportunity to reconfigure the existing layout streamlining our operations. Our production has become more efficient and organized while using less natural resources.” Paul explains.

Kramer has found many benefits to operating his business out of Findlay. Geographically, Findlay is centrally located with immediate entrance onto I-75, U.S. Rt. 224 and 23. This provides easy access for City to make their route deliveries to southeast Michigan, throughout the western half of Ohio, and northeast Indiana to major cities like Columbus, Dayton, Toledo, Ft. Wayne, etc. The centralized location also makes it easier for major shipping lines such as UPS and Fed Ex to deliver purchased merchandise from City Apparel.

Paul states that Findlay is “a safe and vibrant economic community with an excellent educational and healthcare system along with a dedicated quality workforce.” Paul adds “Findlay is a great area for a small business to prosper” and believes that the expansion in the area will guarantee his business success for generations to come.
