Labor & Workforce
One of Greater Findlay’s assets is the human element… a remarkable workforce and community, anchored with a strong job base. Within a 30 mile radius, there are 300,000 persons who are potential employees and shoppers. More people come in to Findlay and Hancock County to work, than leave for employment. In fact, 40% of the workforce comes from the surrounding rural counties, bringing a strong work ethic and homegrown values to the office, manufacturing facility or distribution center.
Considered the regional employment hub, Hancock County consistently maintains the lowest unemployment rate in the region.
But it doesn’t stop there… the Hancock County business community is also committed to being a good corporate citizen. For over 20 years, Hancock Leadership has provided the area with trained leaders who are prepared to lead by serving first. A nationally-recognized nine-month program sponsored by GreaterFindlayInc., Hancock Leadership is designed to foster and promote community volunteer leadership resources. Young people are offered a similar program through Hancock Youth Leadership.
New to Greater Findlay Is WorkingEd.com, which began as a result of a grant awarded by the Ohio Department of Job and
Family Services in cooperation with the Ohio Department of Development. The goal of WorkingEd.com is to retain talent in the West Central Ohio Region by providing an easily accessible method of linking post secondary graduating students and those seeking internships with businesses in the region that have employment and career needs to fill. This program provides the opportunity to drill down to skill sets either required by employers or obtained by students. This skill set technology gives employers the ability to locate their prime candidates and students that opportunity to display what skills they possess. WorkingEd.com is free of charge, easy to use and the result of searches can be emailed for convenience.
